The Groove Awakens

by Scott Noelle

“A long time ago...”

At the beginning of this year, I rebooted The Daily Groove as a brand new blog. Within a few months I realized that I had mistakenly assumed I’d be able to repeat the creative process through which I’d written the original series of Daily Grooves starting back in 2006. Turns out creativity doesn’t work that way. Go figure!

After a somewhat embarrassingly long hiatus, I’m ready to reboot my reboot again. (If you’re not interested in the details, you can scroll down to “The Bottom Line” below.) Here’s what has changed:

1. Instead of trying to write short-form, high-impact “grooves,” I will now write blog posts in whatever format my muse deems appropriate, and I will post them on a WETHIP schedule. (WETHIP = WhenEver The Hell I Please.) Longtime subscribers will recognize that I am now practicing what I preach about how life works better when you follow your bliss instead of “should-ing” on yourself. :)

2. My daily email is now called The Daily Groove “Classic.” Every Monday through Friday I’ll send Classic subscribers a short-form groove from the original series I wrote mostly between 2006 and 2012.

3. About once a week I’ll send out The Daily Groove “Revue email, which will now feature summaries and links to NEW posts written that week, along with a list of that week’s Classic grooves AND anything else I feel inspired to share with y’all.

4. Over the next two weeks I’ll be transitioning to a new email delivery system that is integrated with the DailyGroove.com website. Initially, everyone will be on the Revue (weekly) mailing list and some of you will be on both the Revue and Classic (daily) lists. Adjusting your subscriptions will be much easier after the transition.

5. I’m planning to add my own videos to the mix, in the form of interviews, dialogues, coaching clips, and more. I’ve been shy about becoming a video “personality” and reluctant to dive in, so I got my feet wet back in July by doing a book discussion series with my friend Jeremy Stuart.

6. I was recently invited to join a group of alternative education advocates led by Peter Gray, author of Free to Learn. We are working on projects to promote a societal shift towards self-directed education (a.k.a., natural/child-led/interest-driven learning, free-schooling, unschooling, etc.) While I’ve been speaking about these topics at conferences for many years, my writing has remained focused on parenting. But now my writing and blogging will include more of my thoughts on education, in addition to parenting, relationships, and self-empowerment.

The Bottom Line

All subscribers should start receiving The Daily Groove within a week. If you don’t start receiving them by then, check your spam or try re-subscribing.  After today, my emails will be sent from This Email Address so, if you know how, you can “whitelist” that address or create a filter to make sure my emails go to your main Inbox and don’t get sent to spam by mistake.

May the Groove be with you!
