True Leadership

by Scott Noelle

The theme of leadership vs. dictatorship seems to be in the air this week. I posted several grooves (below) inspired by my article From Control to Leadership. Then an infamous dictator died. And then I got an email from a Daily Groove subscriber with the subject “I live with a 4-year-old dictator.” Here’s a part of my response:

[We need to] dismantle the patterns of parent-child adversariality that are “normal” in our society — especially the subtler adversarial patterns that show up as attitudes and emotional reactions rather than blatant coercion. Sensitive 4-yr-olds often react to subtle adversariality as if it were blatant. We need self-awareness skills and tools to replace the old, adversarial habits with patterns of mutual empowerment that truly work for everyone.

And that is precisely what this week’s grooves were meant to help you do...

We Did It!

The Kickstarter campaign for my friend Jeremy Stuart’s new documentary project, Self-Taught was a success, largely thanks to your generosity! Daily Groovers raised at least $4,000 (that I know of) bringing the grand total to nearly $21,000. (I’m sending my $1,500 matching contribution directly to Jeremy, so it’s not reflected in the Kickstarter total.) Many thanks to everyone who played along! :)
